Poplar von Porta is a beautiful 3-4-year-old German Shepherd whose foster mom can’t stop bragging about him.  Housebroken and socialized, he responds to basic commands, and his medium energy level is easily manageable on leash.  Besides daily walks, he looks forward to car rides, sitting politely in the back and observing the world go by.  Not much gets by his natural curiosity because he is shepherd-alert and attentive.  Poplar likes both human and canine friends with just a couple of caveats:  small children’s spirited behavior startles his shy side, and he likes to play roughly (not aggressively) with other dogs.  We think this handsome guy has some Spiderman in him, as he is able to scale a chain-link fence with relative ease and does not want to be in the yard alone for any length of time.  He will thrive best in an environment where someone is home more often than not, and will tip the happy-meter if it includes another dog who is as playful as he is.
